Tourists seem to enjoy the Mangrove Paddle  Boat Tour.

This tour is a great secondary tour or side tour if you are planning to do the Puerto Princesa Underground River. The Mangrove Paddle Boat Tour takes about less than an hour and is located just a few kilometers from the port. If you want more adventure, you could start a jungle trek from an area in the mangrove forest that would take you to the beach near the underground river's opening.

Please be reminded...

You can follow this path to reach the underground river

Let's go on tour!

So what does one expect from the Mangrove Paddle Boat Tour? Well, to summarize, you'd expect that you'd ride a boat that is paddled by one or two guides and you'd see hundreds of mangroves.

Here's our boat.

Removing the sarcastic tone to it, Mangrove Paddle Boat Tour teaches visitors the importance of mangroves to the ecosystem of Palawan. You'd be surprised at how knowledgeable your guides are. However, don't expect that they'd speak fluent English but you'd see that they try.

Mangroves line up both sides of the river

We were lucky because our guide was an energetic person. Despite having more foreigners than locals in the boat with her, she still tried her best to relay to them the important details about the mangroves. She also had sharp eyes pointing to monitor lizards and snakes hiding in the mangroves. Not only that, she even sang for her guests a song about mangroves.

Well, check this one out... it's a beach!

The sad thing about the tour was that during our trip, we were not able to try out the infamous tamilok. Our guide said they were not able to locate one that morning. Despite this, I was still satisfied with the tour primarily due to the knowledge that I learned and secondarily because I was sitting in the front part of the boat which gives me the opportunity to snap plenty of beautiful pictures.

That's a bayawak AKA monitor lizard

I got to try the Mangrove Paddle Boat Tour with my siblings as part of our side trip while waiting for an available boat that would bring us to the beach near the Puerto Princesa Underground River
