Marina Bay Sands - Singapore

Located at 10 Bayfront Avenue in the Marina Bay area of Singapore, Marina Bay Sands is a luxury integrated resort. Aside from that, its iconic hotel is also one of the most famous structures in the country.

The history of this elegant building started way back in 2004 when the government of Singapore decided to build the country's first integrated resort. In mid-2006, the Last Vegas Sands Corporation won the bid. Its goal was to construct the integrated resort in three years.

The construction proved to be challenging. The land where the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and the other structures were set to be built was unstable due to the marine clay used in the reclamation process. It took the whole first year to secure the base of the infrastructures which mean that construction was already delayed.
To catch up and achieve the three-year target, more workers were hired. The pace of the construction improved and by April of 2010, Marina Bay Sands Hotel opened (a year after its target date).

There is a bit of a misconception regarding Marina Bay Sands though. Marina Bay Sands is not only the hotel but also includes the convention exhibition centre, The Shoppes, the museum, the large theatres, restaurants, Crystal Pavilion, a skating rink, and the world's largest atrium casino.

I got to visit Marina Bay Sands with my family during our 2017 Singapore - Malaysia tour. Our original plan was just to go on a sightseeing tour but thanks to our very close family friends, we managed to experience the luxurious feel of being a guest in the Marina Bay Sands hotel.

Overall, one can always visit Marina Bay Sands without spending tons of money. However, staying in its hotel requires quite a lot of money.
