Chiba: Tokyo Disneyland

Located in Urayasu-shi, Chiba Prefecture in Japan, Tokyo Disneyland (東京ディズニーランド Tōkyō Dizunīrando) is a 115-acre theme park. It is also the first Disney park to be built outside the United States.

Tokyo Disneyland was first constructed in 1980 and was opened on April 15, 1983. The park was constructed by Walt Disney Imagineering in the same style as that of Disneyland in California and Magic Kingdom in Florida. With only a few exceptions, Tokyo Disneyland has the same attractions as that of their Western counterpart.
The different rides and attractions of the theme park are distributed in the seven themed areas in the park. These areas are:
The Cinderella Castle

  • Adventureland
  • Westernland
  • Fantasyland
  • Tomorrowland
  • World Bazaar
  • Critter Country
  • Mickey's Toontown
Here's what we experienced:

The park is known for its wide open spaces, Disney story-based rides, and not to mention the Cinderella Castle (The icon of Tokyo Disneyland). In 2013, Tokyo Disneyland welcomed 17.2 million visitors, making it the world's second most visited theme park in the world.

We visited Tokyo Disneyland during the first and third day of our 3-day Tokyo-Chiba trip which is also the 18th and 20th day of  our stay in Japan. Although I have seen the park from pictures in the internet, I have never expected it to be that beautiful.

What I liked most about the theme park is the night parade. The lights from the floats and dancers make the event very magical.

Getting there:

From Haneda Airport, ride the Direct bus going to Tokyo Disney Resort. Travel time is about 45 minutes.

You could also take the Tokyo Monorail from Haneda Airport to Hamamatsucho Station (23 minutes ride) then transfer to the JR Yamanote Line (6 minutes ride) then transfer to either the JR Keiyo or JR Musashino Line going to Maihama Station (15 minutes ride).
