Japan Diaries 2: Day 22

Day 22 June 7, 2018

Farewell Japan

Ohayou! This is it! Our final day in Japan.

Cold and foggy morning at Tsubasagaoka!

I woke up early and was amazed to see the neighborhood of Tsubasagaoka blanketed by thick fog. What's more amazing was the fact that it was still very foggy until 8:30AM.

All our bags are packed... but we don't want to go...

Off to the mall for our last lunch in Japan.

Aside from being chilly outside, I decided to remain indoors because of the fact that my mind kept on playing scenes from Stephen King's The Mist. Thankfully the fog lifted at around noon and it turned out to be quite sunny. for the first time, Japan's weather forecast didn't hit the mark.

Looking for a place to eat...

Lunch at Shabusai

Ella with Ms. Taeko

We went to AEON Mall in Wakayama for lunch and also to look for ingredients for some dishes requested by our Japanese family. Sadly, there were none. For lunch, we had an unlimited Sukiyaki at Shabusai which is a restaurant found at the Restaurant Street area of AEON Mall

Yummy! What a way to end our day in Japan

After lunch, we headed back home to prepare our stuff for our flight back home later. We spent a large chunk of our afternoon cleaning our room and finalizing the pieces of baggage that we're bringing home. We finished at around 6PM and since our flight was at 8PM, Mr. Toshi and his family brought us to Kansai International Airport (KIX) to check in our stuff. To kill time, we treated them to coffee at Starbucks as a sign of gratitude.

Final family photo before we head to the airport

We didn't cry much like before (but my daughter did) though as it was simply because Mr. Toshi promised us that he'd visit us in the Philippines with his wife next year. It was something that made us very excited that we forgot that we were sad.

Pretty much sums up our faces

As our plane departed KIX and as we fly come nearer and nearer Manila, our Japan Diaries 2 chapter officially comes to an end.

Can't wait for Japan Diaries 3...

Thank you, my dear readers, for following my 22-day diary in the Land of the Rising Sun. Until next Japan Diaries!
